🏋🏻♂ Ended the weight loss challenge I was doing with a friend after four months of losing weight every week. I'm down almost two stone (12 kg). Aim is to lose more but it's the time of year where denying myself food just doesn't work for me. Slow, steady loss over the next few months will do me fine.
⚽️ Tried to watch Tobey referee a football match again. Cancelled, again!
🃏 Poker league night on Saturday. Went into game 10 tied for the lead with Harry. Managed to take the win! Katey took 2nd, so we properly cleaned up. Now 3 points clear at the top of the league with two games to play.
⚽️ Was supposed to be watching Katey's son Tobey referee a football match on Saturday morning but the game was postponed due to Storm Amy rolling in 🌧️ ☹️
🃏 Played in our monthly poker league on Saturday. Not great on my part: finished 8th out of 9 players. Somehow still top (now joint) of the leaderboard with three to go 🤷🏻♂ Katey, however, crushed it with a royal flush 🔥
📝 Finally completed the formal training at work after five straight weeks. Met my team and new boss; think I've landed on my feet! 🥳
🌞 Another warm spell; about 25°C every day this week
🏋🏻♂ No weigh-in this week as my friend used one of her “hall passes” (and it applies to both of us). Took advantage and ate well, but back on it again now.
As the year goes on and I'm 60+ films deep (and I look back at last year's 100+ ratings), it's dawned on me that I rate far too many films as 7 or 8 out of 10 and very few films 5/10 (I don't think I've ever given below a 4/10).
It skews my ratings artificially high and devalues the top ratings for those films that deserve it. Conversely, the stinkers don't get singled out either. To demonstrate this, my Letterboxd ratings arewere* a mess. A different approach is needed.
